Programming

Programming services provided by Eley|Barkley consists of an evaluation of the Client’s space requirements, functional requirements, site requirements, and building design requirements.  Our six-step process for Building Programming includes the following:

•
Research the project type
•
Establish goals and objectives
•
Gather relevant information
•
Identify strategies
•
Determine quantitative requirements
•
Summarize the program

The approach taken gathers input from all levels within an organization affected by the project, including the building end-users, their managers, upper management within the organization, and facilities staff.  The Building Program Summary considers the project budget, building codes, and zoning and building ordinances to name a few.
The outcome is a summarized document that includes the following:

•
Site information to include a general description, soils, site lighting, parking, utilities landscaping, and buffers
•
Building information to include a general description for MEP (Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing), security, and finishes
•
Space requirements per department
•
Building design criteria and code review
•
Conceptual site drawing (if necessary)
•
Conceptual building drawing (if necessary)
